Alban Arena Due to Open in Spring After Asbestos Closure
by Connor Burke
The Alban Arena, located in St Albans, Hertfordshire is “on schedule to reopen in the late spring”, the district council for the area has said.
This follows the closure of the building, halting their pantomime run for performances of Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs back in December. Which we covered along with the repair costs here on our blog, to read more click here.
In their statement the St Albans City and District Council have said that they expect work to be finished on the venue later this month and that “The Arena will be back in action shortly after final safety checks are completed and bookings confirmed.”
uAnthony Rowlands, chair of the Council’s Public Realm Committee, said: “This is a most unfortunate event, but we have moved swiftly to minimise the disruption it has caused by wasting no time in initiating repair work.” He continued “It was a terrible shame that the pantomime had to be cancelled along with some other acts, but I’m sure our residents will understand that we had no other option with health and safety being our paramount concern.”
In news that will be gladly met by all potential visitors, Mr Rowlands also said “If all the necessary works go to schedule, we hope that a reopening is now only a month or two away.”
